Unique one of a kind offering of 5 Decca TEST PRESSINGS of ROY SMECK Serenaders.
I acquired these rarely played records in 1997 from a relative of Don Albert who was the musical director at WHN Radio in New York in the late 1930s/early 1940s. Roy Smeck had his own radio show on WHN in the late 1930s and that's how Don Albert got them.
Please look at all the pictures and read the following descriptions. The labels are hand written with the title, performer, and the Decca matrix number. The matrix number is also stamped on the runoff of each disc. They are all one sided 10 inch 78 rpm and in excellent condition. The audio quality is GREAT!! I played them on a vintage 60s Lenco Swiss made turntable and they were clear vibrant with very very little surface noise. They were all eventually released to the public by Decca on their blue label. Please look at ALL the pictures and read each description. Thanks much! 1) 65050A "I Won't Believe It" Feb. 21, 1939 Condition is E to E+ Very small dig near the beginning on one groove that passed and all I heard was a slight pop. Otherwise beautiful with only slight rubs. 2) 64251A "Now It Can Be Told" June 30, 1938 Condition E to E+ few very faint rubs otherwise beautiful
3) 64250A "Beside A Moonlit Stream" June 30, 1938 VG+ some light rubs and scuffs still very nice
4) 65047A "Heaven Can Wait" Feb. 21, 1939 E- some light rubs and one needle dig towards the end on one groove. It passed also but the pop was louder. It might repeat on a heavy tonearm.
5) 64740A "After Looking At You" Nov. 16, 1938 E to E+ very light rubs otherwise beautiful
There are no cracks, scratches, chips and they all have a lovely shine with hardly any groove wear.
