Nevertheless, one should not try to listen to all 103 songs at one sitting.
As with most collections of this sort, the set is best sampled in small doses.
FAURE-of his entire song literature is indeed a welcome addition to the catalogue.
Alto gether, t are 103 individual songs in the Westminster collection, counting those
that fall into the six cycles: Poeme d'vn jour, La Bonne Chanson, La Chanson d'Eve,
Le Jardin clos, Mirages, and L'Horizon chimerique. They range all the way from
Op. 1 through Op. 118; and since they have been recorded in chronological order,
it is possible to hear Faure's development as a song creator from a frank romanticist
to a quasi-impressionist. "
