Description
This is a lot of five prewar blues 78s from the early 1920s. Included are two of the first big hits in the "race record" market:
- Mamie Smith and her Jazz Hounds: Crazy Blues / It's Right Here for You. OKeh 4169, V to V- condition, minor label damage. First pressing on "plain" label -- not "truetone"
- Bessie Smith: Down hearted Bls / Gulf Coast Bls. Columbia 3844, V; first pressing on blue label
- Laura Smith: Cool Can Blues / Lucy Long. OKeh 8366, V to V- , good labels; acc by hca, vln, gtr & pno -- scarce record!
- Irene Gibbons: Last go Round Bls / That Da-Da Strain. Columbia 3834, V++ / V+, clean wax and label, good gloss
- Victoria Spivey: Hoodoo Man Bls / Spider Web Bls. OKeh 8370, V, 1/2" tight hair crk.
