I bought this lot at an auction in north Texas a few months ago. I purchased the entire lot, no one bought any other boxes. This auction consists of 5000+ 45 rpm records, the Spanish/Mexican program library from KVWC AM-Radio in Vernon, Texas. I don't live there anymore, a friend alerted me to the sale, so I don't know the particulars.

In this auction are many, many promotional 45 rpm records, many from the major Mexican music labels from across the country, but many also from small town labels in Texas, particularly in the Rio Grande Valley. Strong segments of records on CBS Discos, Falcon (McAllen Texas), Hacienda, Discos Supremas, GIL, Freddie, WEA Latina, Dina and others.

While stacking these records for the photo, I picked out a few older labels, I have no idea how many 45s are there on the older labels, I assume not many, but I probably didn't look at over 500 records while making the stacks. One photo shows a sampling of older labels, like Tear Drop, Sombrero, Discos Scorpion, El Zarape, Carnal II and others that I came across.

These records are predominantly in NM condition, most are unplayed, some have play wear, and a few of the older ones had some scuffing, minor scratches, but that was only a very few. There are a handful with some water damage. Almost all are sleeved, and appear to have been kept sleeved.

What a great opportunity to have a radio station library, a huge segement of Mexican music including ranchero, conjunto, mariachi and even I am sure some rock and roll. PLEASE NOTE: There are not very many English title records in here, probably less than 50. Please don't bid on this if you are bidding on early soul, funk or doo wop. It may be in here, I truly don't know, but it is mostly Tex-Mex, ranchera, conjunto, etc.

UPDATE 9/13/04:

I spent some time this weekend sorting these records, there appears to be about 5500 records here, the approximate breakdown is something like this: DINA - 200 CBS DISCOS - 700+ JOEY - 300+ HACIENDA - 200+ WEA - 200+ FALCON - 200+ Labels with over 100 of each include MAR International, Freddie, Profono, ARV, Ramex, Cara, Luna, RCA, Capitol, Sony, Ariola, SAS. There are 25-35 each of records on Tear Drop, Valmon and Mr. G. There are 35 or more records each on Nova Vox and El Zarape. There are 800 or so records which appear to be from the 1980s and 1990s on mixed labels. There are 700 or so records which appear to be from predominantly the 1970s, with some 1960s, on mixed labels.

Postage on this item is $175.00 to the Domestic US via Media Mail, about 400+ pounds of records, international bidders quoted. I ship within about seven days of receiving payment, usually much quicker. Insurance is recommended, $1.30 for the first $50 worth, I'll pay any extra if the bids exceed that.
