Description
Very rare and quite strange 1967 exploitation psych LP with a comic book hero and villain theme by the Fifth Avenue Buses, "Trip to Gotham City", on the Movietone/ABC label. Half this album sounds like typical movie soundtrack instrumentals from the mid to late swinging 60's, groovy library music cuts - BUT - tucked away on this little gem of an LP are three of the most AMAZING undiscovered shakin' swingin' go-go dancefloor classics - complete with super groovy female vocals! "Joker" sports a wild jazzy xylophone shuffle beat with cool distorted wah wah guitar all over and a bevy of silky smooth go-go girls singing nonsense vocals overtop...truly excellent! "Sandman" is another winner, all big beat sounds and floating flute melody while the girls keep purring "Go to sleep, go to sleep"...Wild! But perhaps the best, and most AMAZING Barbarella style KILLER track I've heard all year is "Catwoman" - which, thankfully, is far more entertaining than the Halle Berry film - sporting a great, mysterious "Danger: Diabolik" style spy theme with mysterioso surf guitar, sexy sax solo and killer FUZZ guitar breaks - and all the while the go-go girls are in their finest, sexiest form ever, purring "Meow!" over and over while the band lets loose! Would have fit nicely on the soundtrack to CQ, and would certainly spice up your next retro groovy 60's dance party. Bring on the catsuits! Meow, indeed! Vinyl is in VG++ shape, plays nice, cover in VG++ shape too with minor seam wear and the start of ringwear.
