5x LP Lot: LED ZEPPELIN In Through The Out Door LP - 5 Versions/Cover SWAN SONG

In 1979, Led Zeppelin released In Through the Out Door with 6 different versions of the cover, which featured a photo image. The pictures all depicted the same scene in a bar (in which a man burns a Dear John letter), and each photo was taken from the separate point of view of someone who appeared in the other photos. Collected here, we have five of the six versions of this release, but these come with a special back story - these are the very copies used to create album art for the 2001 Classic Records reissue! 

From the “Classic Origins” collection: 

The LPs in our “Classic Origins” collection are the actual copies that were used by Michael Hobson during the mastering process 200g that produced the now famous Classic Records reissues.  According to Hobson, "Often, Bernie Grundman and I would use multiple original copies of a release in order to figure out what we wanted to preserve and what we could make better.   Routinely we would A/B various original stamper numbers against the original master tapes to figure out how to cut the best sounding reissue possible while preserving as much of the original intentions as possible." Not only are these records audiophile delights, but also they carry with them a little Classic Records history! Each copy comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Hobson to assure their long term value and collectibility.  This is your chance to own a piece of the Classic Records legacy!

Condition Notes: Each of these discs are in VG condition, with scuff marks, surface marks and light lines. Sleeves show signs of wear along edges and at corners, but seams are all intact and covers show minimal if any discoloration. One cover has an old pricetag and another shows adhesive residue. 4 of the 5 contain the original inner sleeve, which features black and white line artwork which, if washed with water, becomes permanently fully colored (two of the four have been washed - see photos).
