I've made the decision to sell some of my very large collection of 7", 12" and LPs.
ALL THE ITEMS I AM SELLING COME FROM NEARLY FORTY YEARS OF COLLECTING.
I AM NOT A DEALER.
There will be some real gems, so make sure you keep your eyes open.

Tommy Sands (1937 - )
If you had the good fortune to look like Elvis Presley, you virtually had it made in the late 50s. There were plenty of lookalikes doing the rounds, and Tommy Sands was just one of them. His first eight singles were all released on RCA Victor, but every one of them fell on deaf ears. It was only when he switched to Capitol that his luck changed. Thanks to the power of television, he was soon enjoying his only smash hit, when "Teen-age Crush" reached #3 on the Billlboard Hot 100, early in 1957. Although he had a further nine chart placings between 1957 and 1960, he only reached the Top 40 once more, with "Goin' Steady" (also 1957).
Fortunately for Sands, his face was also ideal for the big screen, and his acting career lasted slightly longer. His most memorable roles came when he was cast as World War II soldiers, fighting Germans in The Longest Day (1962), and Japanese in None But The Brave (1965). In the first-named movie, he's in good company, with fellow teen idols Fabian and Paul Anka; while in the latter, he plays opposite hi one-time father-in-law, Frank Sinatra. Sands' marriage to Frank's daughter, Nancy Sinatra, had just ended in divorce, and it's said that 'Ol' Blue Eyes' saw to it that Sands' career took a nose-dive. Knowing Sinatra's connections with the Mafia, it's probably true. Whatever happened, it was in these uncertain times that Sands moved from ABC-Paramount to Liberty/Imperial. His recording career was virtually over after five singles, although he still had a few bit parts on TV.
"The Statue" was the first of Sands' Liberty singles, and was a self-composition (co-penned with Al Capps), about a very obscure dance - though if it involved standing as still as a statue, then I can't really see the point. Interestingly, "Little Rosita" (the flip) was written by the legendary Van McCoy. This single was also put out in the UK, where it was to be his last 45 release. That's the most desirable format, with demo's selling for over £100. Both sides were produced by Tommy 'Snuff' Garrett and Leon Russell.

B. Lilting pop tune; nice Spanish flavour.
The styrene on the A-side is almost completely unmarked, and plays almost like new. The styrene on the B-side has a smallish number of faint "spiders webs", and plays with a tiny number of faint ticks near the beginning.
The A-side label has what looks like a number covered with a dollop of Tippex; the B-side label is immaculate.
This record has been played on both sides to verify condition, but there's a full money-back guarantee on all my sales, and I'll refund anyone who isn't totally captivated.
