PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! The very FIRST USA "DONOVAN" Lp pre-release 1965 issue... all fellow fans took note in England's answer to Bob Dylan....the precursor twist heading into London's swinging pop-psych '60s scene.
One of the true magical Pied Piper troubadours of that time, with sweet and gentle songs in the Celtic / folk tradition, upholding peace, nature and innocence... These acoustic tunes are poetic, sung with incredible feeling and beautiful haunting melodies. They seem to come from another world (well, Scotland?) and another time.

Trivia:
· On the back cover, before the track list, there's a subtitle that reads Songs For Sunshine People.
· In the musicians list appears Shawn Phillips playing twelve-string guitar in a song called Song With Your Name, which doesn't exist. Probably an out-take that didn't happen; weird!
· The album version of Colours is the same recording that appeared on the single, but the part where Donovan plays the mouth harp on the bridge was edited.
· In the USA, Hickory replaced the version of Bert Jansch's Oh Deed I Do with the version of Buffy Sainte-Marie's Universal Soldier, probably because it was released as a single in the US the previous September, with great success.
· Donovan "stole" The Little Tin Soldier from his friend Shawn Phillips. When he first heard the song about a toy soldier with only one leg who was in love with a tiny ballerina, he identified with the lyrics (Donovan had a slight limp after he suffered polio in his childhood and the ballerina was Linda Lawrence, ex-Brian Jones cast-off -- Donovan's great love).
· Turquoise was dedicated to his friend Joan Baez. In a 1965 interview with Brian Matthew, in the BBC, Donovan is asked the reason of the name "Turquoise". He giggles and answers: "I don't know, it's a nice name". He looks shy about telling the meaning of the song, but on later interviews he has declared that he was in love with Joan Baez and that the song was written for her. Joan Baez recorded a version of the song in her 1967 album Joan. A few years ago, a juke-box which belonged to John Lennon in the 1960's was discovered. It contained a track-list of 40 singles, written in Lennon's own handwriting, that marked his musical inspiration at the time. Number 2 on that list was Turquoise. John Lennon mispelled Donovan's name and wrote: "Turquoise Donavon". Source: YouTube video.
· In an interview Donovan declared that he took Hey Gyp (Dig The Slowness) from someone else, but he didn't know his name, so he couldn't send him the rights to the song. Donovan arranged it and gave it this title. This song has always been credited to Donovan. Probably it was based on a song called Can I Do It For You and Donovan re-titled it in reference to his friend Gypsy Dave.
