Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel. To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current. 1969 first pressing ~ Burning the blues + 20 minute psychedelic epic THE PUSHER !!!
STEPPENWOLF
(aka THE SPARROW)
Live At The Matrix In San Francisco 1967
USA - DUNHILL 50060
MINT Original first pressing vinyl first released in 1969 of a quite good 1967 recording. Much better than remembered and a good one for re-discovery or first time listen ~~ it is live in San Francisco when the band was called THE SPARROW ... just months later they changed their name to Steppenwolf ... and the reason this album goes by Steppenwolf is to capitalize on their fame of the late 60's, but it's really the same guys...but known in 1967 as The Sparrow...here, you'll find them highly electrified, burning the blues, fuzzed-up & howling...
*** You won't find a better copy unless it's still sealed because this is clean original still in original factory shrink wrapper and very very clean ...40 years old !
Before Steppenwolf was formed in 1967 several of it’s members had been in the Canadian rock band known as the “Sparrow”. The Sparrow had migrated from Toronto, to New York City to Los Angeles, and finally to the San Francisco bay area. Amongst various venues there, which included the Avalon and Fillmore ballrooms, the Sparrow played a club called the Matrix. In 1967, unbeknownst to the group, the club manager recorded a couple of the Sparrow shows. These recordings were released by ABC Dunhill in 1969 because STEPPENWOLF were busy touring and were not ready for the next studio album. While the recording quality of the “Early Steppenwolf” is raw, it is very clear, and captures the band exactly as they sounded -- in all their glory ... and contains a wealth of cool garage blues tunes and what is truly a collectors item, a side long 20 minute psychedelic version of “The Pusher.
