78 rpm Afghani PASHTO music from the Khyber Valley!!!
SHERDIL KHAN
“Youm Paghad fi Turcha (?)”
“Yar Zaman Zaman”
Young India NG 5695/5696
An obscenely rare disc of Pashto music from the Afghan/Pakistan borderlands around the Khyber Valley!! These discs were pressed in small numbers for local consumption and are incredibly difficult to locate today. Not sure if this disc was recorded on the Afghan side or the Pakistani side, but even today the borders in the Pashto tribal areas remain fluid and governed by tribal law. Here Sherdil Khan (“Lionheart Khan”) sings traditional Pashto tunes accompanied by Pashto ensemble, amazing!
Disc: EX plays excellent, looks great too! There are some light surface marks that don’t effect playback, have a listen!
Labels: EX a slight bit of discoloration or spots here and there, but still great.
