Up For Auction: Super Funk / Acid Jazz LP In Spectacular Condition!!!
1978 Monument Records, 12 inch, 33 1/3 RPM Stereo LP, Cat. #MG 7620 , First Pressing, Black Label with Silver Print. Featuring: Eddie Russ. Titled: "Take A Look At Yourself". Song Titles Include: Side One: 1. See The Light [7:22], 2. Take A Look At Yourself [5:12], 3. Don't Ask My Neighbors [4:33], 4. Tea Leaves [6:00] and 5. Interlude [0:43]. Side Two: 1. I Want To Be Somebody [4:17], 2. Feelin' Fine [6:06], 3. I Heard That [4:21] and 4. Lay Back [3:37].
If you're not familiar with this artist/Title, here's some additional information: "Take a Look at Yourself pushes Eddie Russ even closer to slick, satin-lined funk — the grooves are more earthbound than on the preceding See the Light, but its bold, rich arrangements nevertheless pulsate with energy and imagination. Paired with Detroit veterans including trumpeter Marcus Belgrave and alto saxophonist George Benson, Russ still favors the kind of epic-scale structures of jazz, but the radiant, multi-layered synthesizers and dancefloor rhythms clearly evoke contemporary soul, topped off by Jackie Holiday's soaring vocals on "Don't Ask My Neighbors" and "I Heard That." A solid listen, if not particularly challenging".
The Vinyl is Near Mint (9-9.5 of 10) in condition. With Original Inner Sleeve. The cover is very nice. The Shrinkwrap is intact and in excellent condition. The only issues to report: some very minor edge wear and and a small delete clip along the edge near the lower right corner. Nothing serious on this 32 year old LP!!.
