Description
I am cleaning out a very rural Louisiana home where the woman kept everything from her ancestors. This home has been untouched for decades and I am digging out boxes of early 78s.
This record is the second commercial Cajun record every recorded in October of 1928 in Atlanta Georgia by Leo Soileau and Mayuse Lafleur. This record by Victor is numbered 21769. The A side is "Basile" but the B side is more poignantly popular entitled "Mama, Where At?". Mayuse Lafleur was killed 9 days later after recording this record. He was performing alongside Leo Soileau at a Basile LA honkytonk and became embroiled in a fight over moonshine.
I am not a record collector but this record is shiny with no obvious damage. It was played a few times and then stored away for 90 years. NOTE--I am also auctioning the first Cajun record by Joe and Cleoma Falcon and will be happy to combine shipping or you can pick up in Lafayette LA.
