Description
COW COW DAVENPORT PARAMOUNT 12800 E
TITLES: A) CHIMES BLUES B) SLOW DRAG
Two piano soli by noted blues pianist and boogie woogie innovator Charles "Cow Cow" Davenport on a beautiful later Paramount 78 RPM issue from 1929. Comes in a new repro Paramount sleeve.
Record is spotless. Visually looks like new with no scuffs or scratches, but has a tight 1" hair crack which causes an audible "tic" for the first 31 grooves on the "Chimes" side and 15 grooves on the "Slow Drag side. Hair crack drops this record grade from M- to E.
I use standard VJM 78 RPM record grading as noted below. Domestic shipping is by USPS Media Mail. International shipping is by ebay global shipping program unless otherwise requested. VJM 78 RECORD GRADING System:
New / Excellent / Very Good / Good / Fair / Poor
- - - - -
N . As NEW and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).
N- . NEW MINUS, nearly mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.
E+ . EXCELLENT PLUS, plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.
E . EXCELLENT, still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.
E- . EXCELLENT MINUS, still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, few light scratches.
V+ . VERY GOOD PLUS, an average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.
V . VERY GOOD, moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.
V- . VERY GOOD MINUS, quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.
G+ . GOOD PLUS, grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.
G . GOOD, quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
G- . GOOD MINUS, music still prominent, but wear and scratch damage extensive.
F . FAIR, most of music remains audible over surface noise, but listening now uncomfortable.
P . POOR, unplayable.
