DESCRIPTION: If Popeye had decided to become a scat singer in a jazz band, he would have sounded like Fredy Jumbo. Both "Dog Swing" and "Bib-Bap" are extended scat pieces with occasional breaks into falsetto and barnyard noises. Included with this unique 78 are 2 straight ahead small group swing 78s by Fredy and his ensembles. Fredy was a drummer from Cameroon who led mixed groups of African, Creole and French musicians in Nazi-occupied France in the early 1940s.
