• Near Mint (NM): The record is nearly perfect, either never played or played a handful of times. It shows no imperfections and plays perfectly. There should be no obvious signs of wear.
• Very Good Plus (VG+): The record shows some signs of having been played before. Any defects are mostly cosmetic and do not affect the playback experience. Slight scuffs or very light scratches may be present but won't affect the listening experience. There might be spindle marks or other very light defects on the label. Minimal surface noise should be expected.
• Very Good (VG): The defects present in a VG+ record may be slightly more pronounced. Surface noise will be noticeable during playback, especially during soft passages, but it should not overpower the music. Some scratches may be deep enough to be felt with a fingernail.
• Good Plus (G+): The defects present in a VG record may be more pronounced. The record may have significant scratches and visible groove wear. Noticeable surface noise and "ticks" will almost certainly be present while playing. There may also be writings or noticeable defects on the label.
• Good (G): The defects present in a G+ record may be more pronounced. Considerable surface noise may be on par with the audio, and noticeable defects on the label might be present. Possible chips on the outer dead ring may be present, but they should not affect playback.
