Description

ARTIST:  Duke Ellington
LABEL:   Oriole for Levy's "The Home of Music"
TITLES:  Souvenir of Duke Ellington's First Visit To England
CONDITION:  EE-
DESCRIPTION:

Very rare Duke Ellington one sided 78 featuring Duke being interviewed in 1933 by Percy Brooks, the editor of Melody Maker magazine.   This was pressed for Levy's Music Store by Oriole commemorating Duke's first visit to England and not sold commercially.  Rare because it was only given out as a freebie to the few customers whose pockets were deep enough in hard times to buy 6 Ellington 78s.  Duke Ellington autograph scratched into the pressing and beautiful logo design on back for Levy's Sound Studios.
