Description
Here's the surprising JOSIE SADLER - vaudevillian and stand-up comedienne, in one of her "characteristic" numbers, "A LITTLE GERMAN TROUBLE." I say surprising, because about two-thirds of the side is unmistakable stand-up comedy from 1908. Miss Sadler delivers a very funny monologue on the trouble she's having with her German boyfriend, and comes off like a proto-Phyllis Diller! I was unaware of any female comic monologues prior to Fanny Brice (who first recorded in 1916), so this may be the first of its kind!
On the flip side, MISS STEVENSON AND MR. STANLEY harmonize sweetly in "IT'S UP TO YOU TO DO THE REST"
This original 1908 Columbia A596 is in clean E condition. There's a noisy little nick at the beginning of "German," which lasts a few turns.
