Description
ACDC LIVE FROM THE ATLANTIC STUDIOS PROMO LP (GENUINE, NOT BOOTLEG / COUNTERFEIT)
Only released as promotional material, this was sent out to radio stations in the USA and was not released to the general public. This makes it very rare (especially in Australia) and very hard to find in any condition making this item well suited to the collector. apparently there were only 5000 of these pressed in 1978 and they have never been repressed / reissued on vinyl.
There are many many counterfeits of this vinyl which are essentially worthless as part of a collection as they are usually just a poor quality copy of the original. This is the genuine article, not one of the fakes. The fakes can be easily spotted by looking at the "LAAS 001" that is written on the lower right hand side of the front cover. If it is written in the same size text as the "Promotional Use Only" on the lower left of the front cover it is a fake. The "LAAS 001" should be in much smaller writing than the text of the left hand side. Another easy way to spot the fakes is by looking at the labels, if the text on the label says "All songs written by Young, Young and Scott" it is a fake. The genuine article has a full stop at the end so reads "All songs written by Young, Young and Scott." The matrix numbers in the runout can also help identify a fake, these have been pictured.
There are many other differences but these two are the easiest to spot. Please be aware that this was never issued as a picture disc and was never issued with any other colour of label apart from white, so different colour labels or picture discs are also fakes. Basically if it looks different in any way to what is pictured here it is a fake.
The cover has yellowed slightly with age, has slight ringwear on the back and slightly bumped corners, but no seam splits.
On the vinyl side one has a very small paper scuff approx. 5 mm long. The vinyl is very glossy.
Side two has one small paper scuff approx. 5mm long. The vinyl is very glossy.
Vinyl looks to be very very minimally played if at all.
