[Due to a computer breakdown, and having to work from the L.A. Public Library, I was able only to post re-runs for the past six weeks! From now on, there will be exclusively NEW listings, which I hope will deeply intrigue you.]
TWO VICTOR RECORDS are on offer here: a 1921 acoustic, and a 1925 electrical re-make of the same coupling by the same artists: "I'LL TAKE YOU HOME AGAIN, KATHLEEN" and "WHEN THE CORN IS WAVING, ANNIE DEAR" by HENRY BURR and the PEERLESS QUARTET.
Old standards by 1921, these are middle-of-the-road, 19th century tunes that found their way into or onto every parlor, phonograph and piano in America. Mr. Burr was an old stalwart, unfazed either by the acoustic horn or by the newfangled electrical microphone.
What's exciting is that you get to hear the exact difference between acoustical and electrical recording, with the performers hewing to the same arrangements for each. It's almost as if they were the "controls" in a scientific experiment. Separately, these records would be uninteresting, but as a pair, they are fascinating indeed!
These two Victor records, a 1921 acoustic Bat-Wing 18781, and a 1925 Western Electric Bat-Wing 19888 are both in fine E condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
