From the storming opener 'To Be Young (Is to Be Sad, Is to Be High)' to the gut-punch of 'Come Pick Me Up', Adams opens up with an intense passion. Tracks like 'My Winding Wheel', 'Amy' and the Emmylou Harris-assisted 'Oh My Sweet Carolina' have the originality and creativity to set themselves apart as lead tracks. Elsewhere, 'Shakedown on 9th Street' and 'To Be the One' show his ability to alter between energy and vulnerability to balance out the album.
