Aerosmith is the American hard rock band fronted by the charismatic frontman Steven Tyler who, following a self-induced implosion in the early 1980s, went on to stage one of the most successful comebacks in rock history. "Nine Lives" is the 12th studio album by Aerosmith, released March 18, 1997. They had signed a multi-million dollar contract with Columbia Records before they had completed their deal with Geffen, which meant that a lot was riding on their first Columbia LP since 1982.

During the recording the band nearly broke up, and they worked with a number of producers - including Glen Ballard, the man behind Alanis Morissette - before settling on Kevin Shirley.

Aerosmith's First Studio Album Of New Material In 11 Years!

Night in the Ruts is the sixth album by American rock band Aerosmith, released on November 1, 1979, by Columbia Records. Joe Perry left the band midway through its recording. The album was initially produced at the Bands Warehouse/Rehearsal space by Jack Douglas who had produced Aerosmith's previous four albums, but later, Columbia Records brought in Gary Lyons to replace Douglas as the producer.

Recording of Night in the Ruts began in the spring of 1979, but when it was only halfway finished, the record label and management ordered the band to go out on tour in order to generate some revenue, as they had quickly burned through the budget allotted to them. This premature tour during the summer months pushed the album's release to late in the year. Even worse, substance abuse among the band members was getting worse and they started fighting among themselves. This led to a number of missed and sloppy live performances, finally culminating in a violent fight involving the band members and their wives. Joe Perry quit the band halfway through the tour. Prior to his departure, Perry had completed guitar parts for "No Surprize," "Chiquita," "Cheese Cake," "Three Mile Smile," and "Bone to Bone (Coney Island White Fish Boy)." The guitar parts for the remaining songs were recorded by Brad Whitford, Richie Supa, Neil Thompson, and Jimmy Crespo (who later became Perry's official replacement from 1979-84).

"Bone to Bone (Coney Island White Fish Boy)" is the most performed song from Night In The Ruts, with 144 performances. It received heavy rotation in the band's live setlist during the second half of the 1980s, but had largely been dropped by 1990. Stylistically, Night in the Ruts marked an attempt to return to the straight hard rock sound of Toys In The Attic and Rocks after their previous album, Draw The Line took a slight divergence by adding keyboards and female backing vocals. The album is considered to mark a transition between the raw sound of Aerosmith's early years to the more polished, radio-friendly feel they would adopt in the following decade.

Draw the Line is the fifth album by American hard rock band Aerosmith, released December 1, 1977. It was recorded in an abandoned convent near New York City, rented out for that purpose. The album achieved Gold status with the R.I.A.A. in December 1977 and reached #11 on the Billboard 200 in 1978. The portrait of the band was drawn by the celebrity caricaturist Al Hirschfeld.

Aerosmith is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as "The Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band." Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues, and has inspired many subsequent rock artists. The band was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, originally in a band together called the Jam Band, met up with vocalist/harmonica player Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano, and formed Aerosmith. In 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford, and the band began developing a following in Boston.

They were signed to Columbia Records in 1972, and released a string of multi-platinum albums, beginning with their 1973 eponymous debut album, followed by their 1974 album Get Your Wings. In 1975, the band broke into the mainstream with the album Toys in the Attic, and their 1976 follow-up Rocks cemented their status as hard rock superstars. Two additional albums followed in 1977 and 1979. Throughout the 1970s, the band toured extensively and charted a string of Hot 100 singles. By the end of the decade, they were among the most popular hard rock bands in the world and developed a loyal following of fans.

Aerosmith is the best-selling American rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, including 70.2 million albums in the United States alone. With 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums, they hold the record for the most gold albums by an American group, the most total certifications by an American group, and are tied for the most multi-platinum albums by an American group.
