Description

AGE OF ATLANTIC NEAR MINT LP AND SLEEVE Led Zeppelin Iron Butterfly MC5

The Age Of Atlantic.

Superb 1970 Rock Sampler LP which includes two tracks by Led Zeppelin.

1970 Austria pressed Atlantic Records stereo LP housed in gatefold sleeve, 2464 013.

An unusual pressing, this one has all the hallmarks of an earliest UK pressing, except that the top of the plum labels has "MADE IN AUSTRIA" at 12 o'clock on both sides. Otherwise the labels resemble the UK issue.

The matrix numbers are also stamped in the same format as UK issues, and these ones are an early 2464013 A#1 1 1 and 2464013 B 2 1 4. On side one there is also an etched (not stamped) number, 2482031, which has been scored through.

A moderately scarce LP to be found in clean condition, this one is a stunning example and hardly even appears played.

Vinyl in strong near mint condition, my highest grade. Even after inspection with a magnifying glass I can detect no spider trail marks around the centre spindle areas, and the labels are bright and glossy as new. The vinyl surfaces are superbly clean and also with an as new gloss still. There are no marks save for one or two of the very lightest and tiniest of superficial and non-sounding sleeve removal type hairline scuffs, and these only visible with examination using a magnifying glass.

Labels are clean and undefaced, and still bright as new.

Plain white paper inner sleeve is presumed original and in clean and unmarked condition without splits.

Outer sleeve is also superbly preserved, and again gets my highest near mint grade. The sleeve is gatefold with the exterior panels laminated. Inner states "Printed and made by the E.J. Day Group, London and Bedford". There is really nothing to fault with the sleeve, this is the most well preserved example I've ever seen. Totally free of marks or stains, and the laminated exterior still has an as new lustre which the photo does not really do justice to. There are not even any invisible digs or dings seen when the sleeve is inspected at close quarters, bar just a couple of the tiniest of wispy single hairlines, and this is being really niggly. The laminate is completely unblemished, although there is a very tiny air pocket to the top right corner of front panel. Inner of gatefold similarly superbly preserved. Seams, tips and entry side are totally unblemished. The spine is perhaps the most amazing aspect of this sleeve. Not only are the head and foot totally square, and the spine not compressed in the slightest, but there is NO creasing, not even a central hairline. Incredible to find like this.

In summary a superbly preserved final upgrade LP which should please even the most demanding of collectors.
