Description

This is the Holy Grail of Jazz LP collecting, with only an handful known to exist in private collections.  The rarity of this record is legendary, as it was the first and last on the Parrot label.  It is also the rarest and most valuable record in Goldmine.
From 1955 comes this massively rare original mono deep groove pressing of Ahmad Jamal's debut LP Ahmad Jamal Plays (Parrot 55-245/245) - the first (and last) album released on Al Benson's short-lived Parrot label.  A year later, this LP (featuring a piano/guitar/bass trio as opposed to the piano/bass/drums format that Jamal would make his name fronting shortly thereafter) would see re-release as the Argo album Chamber Music Of The New Jazz, leaving this original Parrot pressing a highly sought-after rarity - only occasionally surfacing on the collectors' market.

Vinyl- Visually VG++ nice shine. No marks to be seen or felt. That being said, there is noise. I do not know if it is the way it was pressed . It is so rare that I could not find much info on it So audio wise, I give it a VG.To me, it is still an enjoyable lp to listen to and being as rare as it is, wonderful to own!
Cover- VG+ tape on three sides

  • MP3 play whole song, hi-fi (broadband)
