Description
AKAI 4000DS Mk2 - Reel To Reel (Stereo) Tape Recorder
Serial Number 30151 - 02747
This is a beautiful Akai 4000DS Mk2 tape recorder in stunning condition!
I haven’t seen one like this for a long time...
... it comes complete with the original Akai metal spools (1 with tape)
....it looks absalutely superb!
This model has spool retainers – very useful device for using in a vertical position.
The tape heads are in a clean shiny condition as new and the sound is amazing especially when played at the7.5 ips speed!
As the pictures show this lovely tape deck is in above average cosmetic condition with very low usage.
I have checked out everything as much as I can and all the functions work splendidly:
Record, Play, Fast Forward & Rewind - the VU meters light up too.
This tape deck also comes with a set of Phono & Din interconnecting leads and the instuction manual.
There are 2 speeds: 3.3/4 & 7.1/2 ips.
3 x heads - suitable for 'off tape' monitoring.
4 x track stereo 'sound-on-sound' recording facility.
It can also be used as a 4-track mono machine.
Stereo headphone output socket & left and right microphone inputs.
****
On the 3.3/4 speed with a 3600ft’ tape, the machine will record or play over 3hrs of music without having to be touched. By turning over the tape will give an additional 3hrs of time over 6 hrs in total.
