 •Other Info: Certain myths exist about Al Basim and this album that are not true.  Al Basim was originally from Iraq (not Iran); there is no indication that he was ever persecuted for making this album; and he was not killed upon returning to his country.  On the contrary, he is alive and even made another album in 2006.  What is true, though, is that when he came to the U.S., he settled in the Denver area where he recorded this remarkable album with local musicians (Al Basim plays electric guitar, and is joined by others on flute, bass, and drums (sax on one track)).  It was released privately and apparently only about 500 copies were pressed.
