Description
Here we have the beginning of my life-long (so far!) fascination with Mr Alistair Ian Stewart late of Canford Bottom; at a Watersons Farewell concert a mop-headed waif appeared on stage in a pair of crushed-velvet trousers with a rather splendid 12-string guitar around his neck - dragging a stool which he placed off-centre stage. Cue some witty, well-rehearsed banter and some delightfully delicate guitar work and I ordered this record and coughed-up my 30-bob the following day.
All of which is totally bleeding irrelevant but I felt the need to say it!
Here we have an excellent copy of Al's first album - a first pressing that were all Mono, I understand. It has been extremely well played over a good many years but only ever on half-decent equipment; so important. I think I'm being hard on the sleeve at VG+ and by Record Collector guide I could claim an 'Excellent' - but the spine is very well record-cabineted so I won't. Don't seem capable of taking a decent photo of it - sorry. Also the inner sleeve is beginning to show its age and the edges have started to split. If you would like to know anything more about this record do ask - I'll fight my way through this fog of sentimentally and answer honestly
It's a very important album and a little piece of history - and it's here to be sold
(I try to pitch my stuff below the market in the hope of actually selling something - it's not cheaper because it's inferior. Quite the contrary on most occasions).

Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."
