Rare and important early signature of legendary film composer Alex North, inscribed to friends in 1951, on A Streetcar Named Desire ~ his first major film score upon arriving in Los Angeles.

Alex North, an American Composer, is best known for his many film scores, including A Streetcar Named Desire (one of the first jazz-based film scores), Viva Zapata!, Spartacus, Cleopatra, The Bad Seed, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. He was the first composer to receive an Honorary Academy Award.

His best-known film scores also include The Rainmaker (1956), The Misfits (1961), The Children's Hour (1961), The Devil's Brigade (1968), and Dragonslayer (1981).
