HEAVY a multi-media tribute to Rock’n Roll and young artistsNew York, May 21, 2003 – Downtown Manhattan creative collective, alife, and West Coast-based publisher Neverstop are proud to present HEAVY: A two-volume multi-media tribute to Rock ‘n Roll featuring 56 artists’ reinterpretation of classic Rock ’n Roll album covers, new releases by emerging recording artists and rock inspired fiction. Directed by Tony Arcabascio, one of the four alife founding partners, HEAVY is the result of Arcabascio’s life-long love of Rock ‘n Roll and alife’s central position in America’s emerging contemporary art scene. Summed up, HEAVY is a celebration of the young artist movement and its take on the mother of subculture, Rock and Roll. It is a visual account of these artists’ view on what ‘has been’ and a musical experience of ‘what is and what’s to come.’ Published by Neverstop and scheduled for release this Fall, this newest alife project revisits 3 integral elements of Rock ‘n Roll success— music, packaging and writing—bound into 2 volumes.

Music: 12 mastered tracks by emerging recording artists were compiled and pressed onto 2 vinyl designed by alife. Some of these tracks were made specifically for HEAVY, and others are hot off the presses. With bands whose distinctive sounds and energies represent alife‘s view of today’s rock and roll, the albums were made possible by the irreplaceable help of Crystal Meers.

Packaging: The reinterpretation of 56 classic album covers by 56 artists. Adding their own flavor to preexisting covers, contributors range from the usual suspects, to those whose work deserves some newfound shine. Writing: An ongoing piece of rock inspired fiction written by Griffin Creech. Creech’s work has appeared in underground books such as Death and Boredom, and his writing has been rejected by more mainstream publications than he’d care to list. Representing a generation influenced by the lifestyles and personalities exemplified by Rock, he contributed a sidesplitting insight into that world.

3. Payment Terms

Payment is required within 3 days after the auction closes and I accept only Paypal.

4. Domestic Shipping (USA)

I only ship to Paypal confirmed addresses in the US via First Class, Media, or Priority. Items will always be carefully and securely packaged.

I do not impose insurance on this item but I highly recommend it. It is UP TO YOU to decide whether you want to INSURE the photograph. If you wish to insure it (whether you decide to use First Class or Priority mail), email me and I shall add it to the final/closing price of the photograph [as a reference feel free to visit.

5. International Shipping

Other cheaper and naturally much less reliable shipping options (such as First Class International) are available upon request, but I have chosen to use International Express or Priority shipping as default: NO tracking possible (once the package leaves US territory) but insurance is provided, and the parcel should be delivered in 6 to 15 business days
