Description
Artist: ALLEN TOUSSAINT
Title: “Toussaint”
Label: SCEPTER # SPS 24003. Stereo pressing on medium weight vinyl. Label is gold/multicolored, with black text.
Matrix number on both sides: -1D / -1D. “Sterling” is stamped on both sides of deadwax, and “RL”, for Robert Ludwig, is stamped on A-side deadwax.
Year: 1971
Condition:
DISC: NEAR MINT with 100% of original gloss, as clean as can be found. Appears to have been played one or two times at most, and handled with care. Labels are clean, except name of original owner is neatly handwritten in small lettering on B-side label. Fidelity is superb. A gorgeous set you will never need to upgrade.
JACKET: Jacket is nice VG+. Panels are clean, with just a hint of light ring wear. Front has a few light creases on the right side. Seams and spine show light rubbing wear. Tiny cut-out drill hole at bottom left corner. Overall a very decent jacket to accompany the beautiful disc.

“Allen Toussaint's first solo album, from 1971, established the producer and songwriter's definitive musical style of easygoing, loping New Orleans grooves. Side one is all vocals, with the flip devoted to jazzy instrumental grooves including a remarkable version of Vince Guaraldi's signature tune, "Cast Your Fate to the Wind." Besides Toussaint's own version of his hit for Lee Dorsey, "Working in the Coal Mine," the album also includes his own signature tune, "Everything I Do Gonna Be Funky."
