HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB, UK ATLANTIC RECORDS (SUPER DOUBLE 2659 005) ORIGINAL PRESSING (July 1971) OF THE ALLMAN BROTHERS' SENSATIONAL BLUESY DOUBLE LP SET RECORDED LIVE AT FILLMORE EAST, MARCH 1971

The band's breakthrough success, released in July 1971 and regarded as one of the greatest live albums ever made. It ranks Number 49 among Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Album of All Time.
Whereas most great live rock albums are about energy, At Fillmore East is like a great live jazz/blues session, where the pleasure comes from the musicians' interaction and playing.
The great thing about that is, the original album that brought the Allmans so much acclaim is as notable for its clever studio editing as it is for its performances. Producer Tom Dowd skillfully trimmed some of the performances down to relatively concise running time, at times condensing several performances into one track. Far from being a sacrilege, this tactic helps present the Allmans in their best light, since even if the music isn't necessarily concise (three tracks run over ten minutes, with two in the 20-minute range), it does showcase the group's terrific instrumental interplay, letting each member (but particularly guitarist Duane and keyboardist/vocalist Gregg) shine.
This original double album remains the pinnacle of the Allmans and Southern rock at its most elastic, bluesy, and jazzy.

THE RECORDS ARE PRESSED WITH RECORD ONE PLAYING SIDE ONE / SIDE FOUR AND RECORD TWO PLAYING SIDE TWO / SIDE THREE ALTHOUGH THE LABELS ARE MARKED RECORD ONE SIDE ONE/SIDE TWO & RECORD TWO SIDE ONE/SIDE TWO AS PER NORMAL - THIS PROBABLY ACCOUNTS FOR THE CONFUSION WITH THE MATRICES AS THE ENGINEERS WERE UNSURE WHICH SIDE WAS SUPPOSED TO BACKED WITH WHICH

VINYL Audio: CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP and VERY STRONG AUDIO. TREMENDOUSLY ATMOSPHERIC AND BEAUTIFULLY RECORDED. There are NO scratches, NO jumps/sticks, NO clicks/pops, NO surface noise, NO distortion and NO groove-wear - DELIVERS AN ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING LISTENING EXPERIENCE ON EVERY FRONT FROM START TO FINISH. Must be graded MINT(-) for audio. A finer copy would be very hard to locate indeed. SUPERB LP
SLEEVE: The gatefold cover is also in SUPERB condition. CRISP, SHARP and FRESH with just some light storage corner 'bumping' and a small mark to the back (please see close-up photos) where a label may have been removed - very minor otherwise, NEAR MINT
