Selling off a large collection of Along Broadway magazines put out monthly by the Edison Music Company, makers of the Edison phonographs and Edison Diamond Disc 78 RPM Records. These magazine came from the stock of L R Porter, a music dealer from Brockton, Mass, and bear his rubber stamp. You could not buy these in a store; they could only be obtained from an Edison dealer. Each 12 page issue devotes at least a page or two on the latest offerings of Edison Diamond Disc 78 RPM records, as well as having interviews, etc, with the principal artists on each record. They recorded many Metropolitan Opera performers during the years 1916-1921 and feature a great amount of classical, popular music/tin pan alley and opera star interviews, photographs, record reviews, etc. Indispensible for any Edison 78 RPM/Opera/Tin Pan Alley collector and very tough to find today! This issue: Vol 4 Number 3, March 1919: Cover of Met star Anna Case; a great full page travelougue, The Soul Of Broadway by Ray Cummings, which goes through a day and night, from noon to 1:00 A.M, along the saloons and theatres of Broadway, from the Marlborough Grill to Murray's to Ted Lewis' Band & Earl Fuller's Jazz Band at Rector's, the sights of the Moulin Rouge, Leola Lucy at the nextdoor Palais Royal, then onto the Golden Glades for skating by the time 1:00 A.M arrives. Great article! plus the usual record release list and Edison Diamond Disc artists latest gossip and news: Albert Spalding, still with the E F in Italy, has been booked on a Spring & Summer Tour in Europe and composing "some rather pretentious things" according to the magazine, in Italy.- VG condition.
