Record Label: Alto Analogue AA 011

Alto Records 180 Gram, Virgin Vinyl version of the great Wasserman Duets experiment. On the TAS List of exceptional recordings.

Imported from Germany, an Alto Analogue LP is pressed on 180G virgin vinyl, and given attention and care during the all analog, tube mastering process, to deliver the best audiophile sound possible. Records are pressed on QUIEX Premium 180 gram Vinyl. Along with Speakers Corner, Alto is one of the best  audiophile reissue labels out of Germany.

Condition: Record cover is like new except for a one and a half inch split in the top center. Corners are sharp. There are no spindle marks on the label. Vinyl looks like new and plays beautifully.

Review: This charming collection of duets features the bass of Rob Wasserman in a variety of different roles, from supportive to lead to orchestral. With the exception of Stephane Grappelli's violin, Lou Reed's guitar and Rickie Lee Jones' guitar and bells/percussion, every sound on this album is bass and voice, demonstrating that these two musical forces can be everything by themselves.

My favorites include the joyful Brothers (with Bobby McFerrin), the weighty One For My Baby And One More For The Road (with Lou Reed), the poignant Leonard Cohen song Ballad Of The Runaway Horse (with Jennifer Warnes) and the moving Over The Rainbow (with the violin of Grappelli), quite spectacular instrumental.

This is a successful experiment combining the human voice with the bass guitar and it delivers some very soulful sounds. It should appeal to fans of these featured artists and to everyone who loves the bass. ~ Amazon
