The band America was formed in 1969 by Gerry Beckley (guitar, piano, vocals), Dewey Bunnell (guitar, vocals) and Dan Peek (guitar, keyboards, vocals) who were all sons of US Servicemen stationed in England. They achieved success with their debut single "A Horse With No Name" which showcased their pop rock vocal harmony style. Further appearances in the singles charts followed with "Ventura Highway" and "Tin Man" along with album hits.
'Homecoming' is the second studio album by the American folk rock band America, originally released in November 1972. This album solidified America's position in the music industry, building on the success of their self-titled debut album 'America'. The band's harmonious vocals and acoustic guitar work are prominent throughout the album, creating a signature sound that blends folk and rock influences. 'Homecoming' was a commercial success, reaching #9 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The single 'Ventura Highway" was particularly successful, becoming one of America's most recognizable songs, known for it's distinctive guitar riff and evocative lyrics about nostalgia and freedom and a staple of 1970s rock radio.
" America Homecoming is one of my favorite albums of all time. It has almost 40 years and sounds very contemporary even today. It includes songs like Ventura Highway, Cornwall Blank from Dewey Bunnel, Head and Heart (John Martyn's cover), Only in your Heart, Till the Sun Comes Up Again and To Each His Own from Gerry Beckley. Recording made in 1972 was brilliant and Friday Music has done an excellent job in this new vinyl edition. The quality of the cover and record is outstanding." - Owner of This Edition.
