Description

PLEASE NOTE: I WILL ONLY GRADE AN OPENED LP NEAR MINT (NM) IF I CAN GUARANTEE IT HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED (i.e. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER).  OTHERWISE, NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) IS THE ABSOLUTE HIGHEST GRADE I WILL ASSIGN AN OPENED LP.

In 1988 I was working at an electroplating company in Sauganash Village here in Chicago on the city's far northwest side.  One of my co-workers was a man named Ron Lynch.  He was a very active guitarist on the metal scene at the time and knew a lot of people in a lot of metal bands.  I was at his apartment one day and he was out of weed so I offered to trade him for a few records since he was constantly being given records and tapes by local bands, including the band whose album you're reading about right now, Amethyst.  If you're reading this then you probably already know, but for the uninitiated, this is one the rarest metal records in existence.  Amethyst were an aspiring Chicago metal band in the 1980s and recorded this sole EP at Jem Recording Studio in the near northeast suburb of Evanston in 1984.  Mastered by legendary former Stax lacquer cutter Larry Nix, it was released the same year on the band's own Pacific label (who managed this sole release in their nanosecond of a lifespan) in a tiny quantity of 100 copies, although far fewer survive now, 42 years later.  I lost touch with Ron decades ago but he was a hard partier with some bad habits so I hope he's still around.  After 38 years I've finally decided to part with this Holy Grail so now's your chance to own it.  LP is a gorgeous VG++/NM-.  Cover is VG+/VG++ with four sharp corners, flawless edges and barely a hint of ring.  Anyone that follows my auctions knows I own some Grails to die for but this is one of the absolute crown jewels in my collection.  It's been years since a copy has surfaced and it will most likely be a lot longer before another copy comes up for sale so bid hard and don't sleep metal collectors.  Check Popsike to see the handful of copies that have ever appeared.  Miss it and be sorry.  Due to the rarity of this LP it will be sent via Priority Mail with additional insurance so please wait for an invoice.  Good luck.
I USE GOLDMINE GRADING MINT (SEALED)  NEAR MINT: LOOKS UNPLAYED VG++:  VERY VERY MINIMAL SIGNS OF US VG+:  AVERAGE SIGNS OF USE, NOTHING DEEP, SUPERFICIAL VG:  STILL AN OK RECORD, NOISE BETWEEN SONGS GOOD: WORN BUT PLAYS FINE WITH DISTRACTING NOISE POOR:  FILLER COPY ONLY.  LOTS OF SCRATCHES
