Anar Band: Jorge Lima Barreto / Rui Reininho LP issued by Alvorada (LP-S-98-10) in Portugal, 1977. Gatefold cover. ****** Rec:m (never played) Cov:ex ****** Original 1970s pressing of one of the most legendary portuguese albums of all times. Anar Band was a project by Jorge Lima Barreto who had been performing interventions in experimental and jazz music, video art and performance-art since the late 1960s. Graduated in Art History and doctorate in Musicology and Social Communication Theory, he wrote several books and produced radio shows. Anar Band was a laboratorial group for improvisations, in the aesthetics of the free-jazz and electroacoustics. Produced and recorded in 1976, Anar Band was, on an electroacoustic profile, the first Portuguese record of improvised music, clearly committed as such. "Plasticman" was thought of as Jazz-off mimetic music, in a dialectical avant-garde aesthetics. Jorge Lima Barreto (synth, piano, prepared piano, unidentified percussions...who would be from 1981 onwards one of the halves of Telectu, the other being Vítor Rua) improvised a hyper-expressive atonalistic solo on an Arp Odissey synthesizer, inspired by free-jazz phrasing, and Rui Reininho (prepared electric guitar, percussions...later the lead singer with avant-garde pop group GNR) played some rhythmic lines, simulating a swinging bass on a double-neck Ibanez guitar. A textural pad of concretist influence was later overdubbed and given the name Sintonic Orchestra. Top rare edition of experimental, electronic music in strong MINT conditions, comes into one of the most beautiful gatefold covers you'ever seen with really unique artwork! ****** (references: avant, experimental, electronic, Jorge Lima Barreto, Telectu, Plux Quba, Rafael Toral) ****** the following are the correct postage costs: unregistered priority mail is about 12 US dollars to europe and 14 US dollars to the rest of the world (except for oceania to which it is 17 US dollars), registered airmail is about 16 US dollars to europe and 21 US dollars to the rest of the world (except for oceania to which it is 24 US dollars). please note that winning multiple items can make you save on postage. preferred payment is paypal, although other options may be available.
