1970/Cdn/Mercury SR 61305…….here’s a gorgeous in the shrink original Canadian pressing of this rare lp.  The cover is in M- like new condition. The vinyl is in M- like new condition as well. The history of the band Ancient Grease goes back to the late 1960s, when the four Welsh lads Gareth "Morty" Mortimer (vocals), Jack Bass (bass, certainly!), Dick "Ferndale" Owen (drums) & Graham Williams (guitar) were playing in the local cover-band Strawberry Dust.

After Strawberry Dust had supported another Welsh rockers Eyes Of Blue on their tour, Eyes Of Blue's drummer John "Pugwash" Weathers got so impressed with the instrumental skills of Strawberry Dust's musicians, that he asked the Mercury boss Lou Reizner to sign them.

Reizner agreed, but suggested the new title of the band - Ancient Grease. With help of Weathers and two other Eyes Of Blue members Phil Ryan (keyboards) and Gary Pickford-Hopkins (vocals, guitar) the band recorded their first and last album, called "Women and Children First", which was released in July 1970.

All the tracks on this album were written by Eyes Of Blue members, but still this work is far more progressive than everything done by this band in the earlier years.

Anyway, this is a rare example of the album totally devoid of low points. Unfortunately, Ancient Grease proved to be a one-shot classic.

MINT: as stated with no defects

M- OR NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition, I also play grade the records on high end equipment and will give an honest play grade as well as visual grade, considering the number of records I buy on line my grading is very conservative and fair.
