INCLUDES: Ed Wolfrum, United Sound business card from late 60s.This record was cut at United and produced by Herman Griffin. "I Need You Like A Baby" features classic production and is considered the hit side, but the flip is equally impressive. "The Grass is Greener" opens up with this classic Wolfrum drum break, showcasing one of United Sound's six different variable on-console reverb options, and marches into a beautiful track of Motownish temperament. Ed remembered Andrea and this session very well. Ed had a recent conversation with Andrea Henry who was surprised and amused to hear that her record was getting appreciation. This record is a real Detroit classic in stunning condition.

ED WOLFRUM
This is one of a set of 13 deep Detroit records currently listed up on ebay from the collection of Dr. Edward J. Wolfrum. An engineer who worked consecutively at Motown, Golden World, United Sound, and Theme Productions in the 60's, and his own Audio Graphic Services studios since the early 70's, Edward Wolfrum is an engineer with deep roots into the Detroit recording scene. Wolfrum worked on such disparate records as Funkadelic's first three LPs, Isaac Hayes's "Hot Buttered Soul," the Tomangoes "I Really Love You," the Association's "Along Came Mary," to a large share of Marvin Gaye's Output. Today Wolfrum performs mostly binaural mannequin head recordings of classical/orchestral music, most notably recent recordings in Detroit of the works of 50s/60s DSO conductor, Paul Paray. Wolfrum worked within the close knit family of recording engineers, producers, label owners, and musicians that existed in a time when immense technical and artistic talent filled the city of Detroit. Wolfrum worked most closely with his good friend Russ Terrana and coworkers at United Sound like Danny Dallas and Les Cooley. Responsible for countless huge orchestral records, echo laden drum breaks, and pounding Detroit Soul workouts, Ed Wolfrum looms large in the magic of the Detroit Sound.
