ARMCHAIR APOCRYPHA
Released in 2007, Andrew Bird’s Armchair Apocrypha is filled with layers of violin, glockenspiel, vocal harmonies, guitar, piano, and the most amazing whistling. Bird enlisted his touring drummer Martin Dosh (a.k.a. Dosh) and several other musicians to create this melancholy collage of gentle pop songs. Primarily a violinist, Andrew Bird has pioneered his own distinct sound as an eclectic instrumentalist and songwriter. 180g gatefold single LP w/ printed inner sleeves and download card.
NOBLE BEAST (2LP)
Andrew Bird spent most of 2008 working on Noble Beast, the follow up to Armchair Apocryphia, and during this time he was invited by The New York Times to write about his experiences in the studio for a 3-part series. 180g double gatefold, includes limited time MP3 download of the entire album.
BREAK IT YOURSELF (2LP)
Andrew Bird's 2012 breakthrough album Break It Yourself was the highly anticipated follow-up release to his 2009 album Noble Beast. Produced at his own Western Illinois barn-turned-studio, the sessions for the album featured a mix of distilled, grounded songs and some wild soloing with fine support from long-term collaborator Martin Dosh on drums, Jeremy Ylvisaker on guitar and Mike Lewis on bass. The 14-song set includes such cuts as the steel-drum heavy “Danse Caribe,” the instrumental “Behind the Barn” and the lush, eight-minute “Hole in the Ocean Floor” among others. 180g double gatefold, includes limited time MP3 download of the entire album.
HANDS OF GLORY
Hands of Glory is the product of a pair of recording sessions prompted by the overwhelming response to Andrew Bird’s “old-time” sets on recent tours. Reinterpreting songs from Break It Yourself and featuring covers of classic country tunes, these “old-time” performances find Bird and his full band playing to a single microphone with an entirely acoustic setup. Drawing inspiration from these sets, Hands of Glory features two brand new original tracks, a new interpretation of “Orpheo Looks Back” from Break It Yourself and covers of the Handsome Family, Alpha Consumer and others. Limited edition on orange w/ black splatter covered 180-gram vinyl.
