Thelonious Monk "Quintet" LP

1954 Prestige Records. Catalog # 7053 (PRLP-7053)
Original U.S. pressing. Rudy Van Gelder's "RVG" etching in both sides dead wax.
A-side features Thelonious Monk (piano), Sonny Rollins (tenor sax), Julius Watkins (french horn),
Percy Heath (bass), and Willie Jones (drums).
B-side features Thelonious Monk (piano), Frank Foster (tenor sax), Ray Copeland (trumpet),
Curly Russell (bass), and Art Blakey (drums).

INFORMATION:

Highly obscure and sought after gem with the rare Andy Warhol designed cover (in conjunction with Reid Miles). The cursive writing on the front cover was hand written by Andy Warhol's mother, Julia Warhola.

Vinyl I will call a strong VG to weak VG+ condition. Has some visual surface marks. There are TWO marks a little deeper on track #B-3 "Think Of One-Take 1" that are tiny but you can feel with a fingernail. The first mark is close to the start of the tune, and it causes a pop for about 15 seconds. The second mark is about 3/4ths into the tune, and causes a pop for about a minute. Needle doesn't jump or skip in either area, and I've tested it with very light weight on the turntable arm. Otherwise there's minimal noise when played. Wax still extremely shiny.

Cover is in a strong VG to weak VG+. Has some fading and ring wear. There's about a 2" split in the center of the bottom edge. All other edges are fine with no splits or wear. Corners lightly bumped. Tiny staple holes on front lower right, and a sticker from the Alexander's store on rear lower left (see images). Labels clean.
