Ann(e) Arbor Blues & Jazz Festival 1972 45RPM 8 LP 180g Vinyl Box Set -
Classic Records Reissue STILL SEALED
JUST DONATED BY MEMBER COLLECTOR
Hands down one of the greatest festival recordings ever! Out of circulation for nearly twenty years, this great two-record set from 1973 was made available once again by Classic Records. It’s a document of an incredible three days (Sept. 8-10, 1972) of powerful music, attended by more than 15,000 fans at Otis Spann Memorial Field in Ann Arbor Michigan. Hopefully, future re-examination of the Ann Arbor Festival 1972 will yield full sets by each of the participants, including those not represented on this LP, such as Miles Davis, Pharaoh Sanders, and Lightin’ Slim! Classic Records approached this obscure and rare release with the idea that it deserved the best sonic treatment ever. As such, the decision was made by Michael Hobson, founder of Classic Records, to cut the original two record set at 45 rpm** and issue it as 8 single sided 180g LP's. Despite the effort to bring some new life to the obscure and rare title and amazing live performances, the set did not sell well adding credence to the notion that "obscure records tend to remain obscure." This long of of print box set was mastered and cut by Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood CA using Classic Records "ALL TUBE" analog cutting system from the original 1/4" analog tapes supplied directly from Atlantic's tape vaults. LAST COPY! Bid accordingly as you are not likely to see this rarity sealed again any time soon!

We ship Monday through Friday. Shipping and Handling charge represent the actual cost of shipping, packing material, and labor only. A $10.00 handling fee is added to each order to cover out of pocket material costs. All purchases will be well packed for safe delivery to your location. In an effort to reduce waste and save you money, we re-use good quality packing material when possible and your shipping cost will reflect any savings. Insurance can also be purchased by the winning bidder at their request. Please also note that shipping can cause things to shift inside even the best package and could affect the items. We work hard to maintain a 100% seller feedback so bid with confidence.
Many of these items are rare, very old, vintage electronic antiques so everything we sell is offered "as-is" for parts or display, but not operation; except where noted. Our only warranty is fitness for particular purpose of parts or display, and merchantability as parts or display items.
Combined shipping is available but depends on the size & weight of any other items. We will always try to save you money on shipping if possible. Note that all items shipped UPS are automatically insured up to $100. We use UPS primarily for shipping larger items because they have demonstrated superior handling abilities compared to USPS. However, if you live in an area such as Alaska, Hawaii, or foreign location where the UPS charges are much higher, contact us for a USPS shipping quote to save you money. If you have concerns about having adequate insurance on your purchase, please contact us prior to completing checkout.
