AORTA Aorta (CBS S 63690) Blood, Sweat & Tears RARE German 1st Pressing 1969 MINT
RARE German first (and only) pressing of the eponymous debut album by Aorta on CBS Records (April 1969).
Issued by Columbia Records in April 1969, the same month as three other Chicago-area acts: Chicago Transit Authority, The Flock and Illinois Speed Press, Aorta were marketed as part of the so-called "Chicago Sound". Employing numerous sound library effects (crying babies, ringing telephones, etc.), Aorta was a concept album of sorts, with songs segueing into each in a seamless fashion. Stylistically, Aorta were a jazz-influenced psychedelic/art rock hybrid, making abundant use of dramatic soul-influenced vocals and virtuosic guitar/organ arrangements. If you enjoyed Blood, Sweat & Tears`Al Kooper-produced debut album "Child Is Father To The Man", then Aorta should be right up your alley, too!
GRADING/ZUSTAND:
MINT- COVER with only lightest wear. Please see the photos for details.
- Laminated gatefold sleeve with a few small creases along the spine.
- Light record imprint on the rear sleeve (at top). Very minor.
- Also includes the original custom-printed German CBS Records inner sleeve in perfect MINT(-) condition!
MINT(-) RECORD that looks unplayed.
- Play-graded MINT(-) with perfect audio reproduction.
- Original dark orange first-pressing CBS labels with no spindle wear whatsoever.
- Even under strongest lighting, this record looks practically unplayed.
- Original "A 1" and "B 1" matrix stamps in the run-off grooves show that this copy of "Aorta" is an original German first pressing.
