So, up for auction is a hard to find very rare original copy of the Aphrodite's Child’s Quando L'amore Diventa Poesia / Lontano Dagli Occhi  45 rpm 7-inch single that was manufactured with a TRI PUSH OUT center in 1969 in Greece by Phonogram - the local distributor of Mercury in those days - with black with silver lettering labels, Cat No 45 - 4126 and Matrix Nos 132 504 - 1 F W [A side] and 132 504 - 2 F W [B side, both machine - stamped] housed in a unique color picture sleeve!

In order to reinforce their presence in Italy - a country where the band experienced great success - the Aphrodite's Child intended to take part, in January of 1969, at the 19th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, the most popular Italian song contest and awards ceremony, singing Quando L'amore Diventa Poesia or Lontano Dagli Occhi - the first a composition of Sergio Endrigo with lyrics of Sergio Bardotti and the second a song of the duo Piero Soffici / Mogol. At the last moment, however, they gave up participation and the songs were presented by Mary Hopkin [2nd position] and Orietta Berti / Massimo Ranieri [10th position] respectively.  The reason was never fully clarified and there was a lot of talk about this case and there were also those who claimed that they did not accept the combination with Endrigo. Instead, it seems that the real cause was Vangelis' refusal to participate in an event that was based on a singing contest. However, in order not to spoil it for the Italian fans, they went on to record these two titles and to release them in a single with an incredible Demis Roussos performance in Italian language! Fortunately, the single was manufactured in some other countries too - Greece included!  

[notice:  Greek singles were originally pressed in very small quantities - often with unique pairing of tracks and, not so often, with unique picture sleeves for the needs of the local market - and then deleted forever. Most of these singles / picture sleeves have disappeared or been damaged through time, making the Greek issue of a single with unique picture sleeve incredibly rare and very hard to find!]

Unavailable for half a century and RARELY SEEN on eBay in ANY condition with its MONSTER RARE UNIQUE COLOR PICTURE SLEEVE, this single with its two NON-LP tracks is a must have item for every Vangelis / Demis Roussos completist that does not get offered up too often - and with NO Reserve !!!  So, do not miss …

Grading: I use the GOLDMINE standards for grading STRICTLY & CONSERVATIVELY  the condition of the items listed.The grading is mostly visual, though, when in doubt, I d? “spot check” each of the songs play-graded on a Technics SL-1200MK2 with a, weight of 1.5 gram, Stanton 681 EEE MK III! As for the covers, please, look at the photos to evaluate yourself - with grading being a subjective matter, pictures are an objective way to evaluate for yourself!
