ARCO IRIS – Los Elementales (Fuierzas Magicas De La Natuiraleza). PQR 018. Greek release. FACTORY SEALED NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1977. This gatefold cover edition issued in 2023 in a limited edition of 400 copies, 100 each pressed on 180g red, blue, orange, and silver vinyl (each symbolizing one of the four elements); #’d in editions of 100. This is a red vinyl pressing, #41/100; the number is printed on the hype sticker, front cover. MEMBERS:  Ara Tokatlian (flute, sax, synth, Mini-Moog, P.S. 3000, Fender & acoustic piano, vocals), Guillermo Bordarampe (bass, acoustic guitar, vocals), Jose Luis Perez (drums, percussion), Ignacio Elisavetsky (guitar, vocals), and Dana (la voz femenina pertenece, chanteuse).

DESCRIPTION:  From 1967 to the present day, the musical group Arco Iris has made history in Argentine rock. Founded by Gustavo Santaolalla, Guillermo Bordarampé and Ara Tokatlián, the trio included different drummers in its line-up and performed a style of rock music heavily influenced by Argentine folklore; as a result, they were perhaps the most praised band of Argentine rock during the 1970s. They also created a life philosophy and lived in community (a commune), always guided by Dana (former model Danais Wynnycka), the groups spiritual guide. In 1976, Santaolalla and drummer Droopy Gianello left the band to form Soluna, so Bordarampé and Tokatlián hired Uruguayan drummer José Luis Pérez and guitar player Ignacio Elisavetsky and recorded the album Los Elementales for an independent label. This album features a complex style of jazz-rock with a touch of Latin folklore. Most notable comparisons can be made to The Mahavishnu Orchestra, for which the keyboard work of Ara Tokatlián can be likened to that of Jan Hammer, and the music of Return To Forever. Many other progressive elements are added and mixed to make this uniquely their own. The album is mainly instrumental, with a very high level of composition work. A forgotten jewel indeed, excavated by musical archeologists. As, in their homeland, this seems to have been relegated to a mere footnote in the bands history, it can now be appreciated, and deservedly so, by a much wider audience.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.
