Description
ARGENT Argent 1969 UK CBS 1st PRESSING
ARGENTArgent
1969 UK CBS (S 63781) FIRST PRESSING OF ARGENT’S DEBUT LP
In 1969 the Zombies didn't so much come to a halt as split in two.
Colin Blunstone would take the band's poppiest, sweetest elements and Rod Argent would take the gutsier ones - and that's what you get on Argent's self-titled debut - late-period Zombies, with a heavier, keyboard-led rock feel
Rod Argent organ, electric piano, vocals
Russ Ballard guitar, vocals
Jim Rodford bass guitar, guitar, vocals
Robert Henrit drums, percussion
PRESSED WITH THE FIRST SOLID ORANGE CBS LABELS
MATRIX: S 63781 - A1 / S 63781 - B1
THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATT CENTRE-LOADING GATEFOLD SLEEVE ”Printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford”
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL DIE-CUT CBS ADVERTISING INNER SLEEVE
Side A:
Like Honey
Liar
Be Free
Schoolgirl
Dance In The Smoke
Side B:
Lonely Hard Road
The Feeling's Inside
Freefall
Stepping Stone
Bring You Joy
LABELS: NEAR MINT
Clean, unmarked labels with less than a handful of careless spindle traces per side
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
Both surfaces shine like-new with nothing but some harmless light hairlines
VINYL Audio: EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+
Plays beautifully throughout with little to fault - just the occasional one-off tick- nothing major
Great sound - strong, rich and warm - basically The Zombies next LP minus Blundstone’s etherial vocals
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT
Apart from some rub to the surfaces/corners/spine the cover is in fine shape and all text on the spine is clear
