ART BLAKEY AND THE JAZZ MESSGENGERS “A Night in Tunisia” RVG, DG, P, BLP 4049 mono Vinyl
This is the 1961, first edition, RVG-stamped, Deep Groove, Laminated Cover, “P” pressing of ART BLAKEY AND THE JAZZ MESSENGERS’ “A Night in Tunisia” on the "47 West 63rd” labels of Blue Note BLP 4049. Musicians Art Blakey – drums, Lee Morgan – trumpet, Wayne Shorter – tenor saxophone, Bobby Timmons – piano, Jymie Merritt – bass.
HEAVY-WEIGHT VINYL plays with very light surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. But ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. Album plays beautifully overall. No distortion. Minor warp. No skips. Good gloss. Handful of hairline marks, 1 or 2 feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The Deep Groove "47 West 63rd New York 23” labels are generally clean, spindle marks, “X” “X” at two songs. font color="black">LAMINATED COVER is in good shape, corners worn. Long wrinkle at upper right corner. Seams and spine in good shape, cracking evident, but no splits. See photos. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC, 43 West 61st Street, New York 23, N.Y.” back jacket shows aging, wear, pencil mark. Paper tears on right border. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANER.
