Description
Nice copy of the original 1960 first pressing LP of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers at the Jazz Corner of the World, Vol. 1, on Blue Note 4015. West 63rd labels, with Rudy Van Gelder's stamp and the "ear" mark on both runoffs. This was one of Blakey's great bands, featuring Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan, and Bobby Timmons. Wonderful live recording that just cooks all the way through. The disc looks about VG, with quite a bit of scuffing and some light marks, but it plays more like VG+, with only a touch of light crackle between tracks, and faintly heard in a couple of the quieter solos, of which there are very few anyway. Not all the quiet parts have crackle. Much of it plays just about perfectly. Really the whole thing sounds wonderful... not at all any distracting pops or clicks, and only barely any crackle. The cover has some light wear but really not bad. The corners are all slightly rubbed, particularly the lower corners, and barely on the upper ones. The center of the lower seam is splitting a little where the disc touches the edge, and there is a touch of light staining on the back. But other than that it is really strongly intact and clean. The spine is fully intact and readable, and there is no wear on the upper edge. This is an overall very nice original copy.
