THE COMPLETE BLUE NOTE RECORDINGS OF GEORGE LEWIS

A truly excellent (at least) condition copy of this increasingly rare 1985 US original pressing x5 vinyl LP boxset, limited edition (7500) jazz collectable, on MOSAIC records, MR5 - 114

The overall appearance and condition of each of the FIVE vinyls is excellent plus (EX+). Each vinyl is completely flat and in normal daylight comes across as in perfect condition, with a jet black sheen and beautiful luster on each. Close scrutiny under a bright light reveals the odd wispy hairline and occasional small area of "shadowing"...very trivial and totally superficial. Clearly each of these vinyls has been played only a handful of times. Gorgeous!

The labels are each excellent plus (EX+). All text and the famous Mosaic logo with blue, white and purple squares remain perfectly intact. Very close inspection reveals the occasional small and very faint spindle trail adjacent to the centre hole, and each label has been numbered in purple felt tip - apart from these tiny glitches, perfect!

The non-laminated thick cardboard outer box is in excellent (EX) condition. Beautiful thick cardboard with barely any scuffing or rubbing, no discolouration, and all corners remaining nicely defined right angles. The iconic front side black and white photo of Art Rhodes remains in original lovely, crisp, perfectly defined condition. Similarly for the inside of the box, which is in great condition also. The only blemishes are a 6m seam split in the middle of each side of the top edge, a small 1cm blemish (edge split) at the left end of the top edge, a small indentation towards the bottom of the spine, and a 9 cm strip of sellotape on the spine. Each of these glitches is trivial but I have tried to show each in my photos so hopefully you will come to the same conclusion as me.

Finally, the quality of the audio is excellent plus (EX+). I have not played every track on every record but have played sides 1, 5, and 10 as samples and the audio quality is simply superb. Every side of every vinyl gleams, and clearly these records have been very sparingly played, so I have no reason whatsoever to think that the sound quality on any of these vinyls is different to the sides/samples that I have played. No clicks (apart from the very occasional nano second of static), or background interference at all, simply great tone and clarity throughout even at higher frequencies and higher volumes. Crystal clear audio reproduction. No wonder Mosaic records are renowned as the gold standard by true audiophiles.

Comes complete with original 16 page booklet, again in wonderful condition with just a few very light surface marks on the reverse side.

Each vinyl comes complete with original MOSAIC plain white anti-static inner sleeve with no seam splits or tears, just some mild creasing towards a few of the corners, and remaining 100% fully functional. 

In summary a truly excellent plus copy of this sought after limited edition jazz gem, a worthy addition to any serious jazz vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard crucifix style mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
