Description
ART PEPPER, FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD, FRENCH CONTEMPORARY LP/JAZZ/EX
Art Pepper – Friday Night At The Village Vanguard Arthur Edward Pepper, Jr. (September 1, 1925 - June 15, 1982) was an American alto saxophonist and clarinetist. He was recognized as one of the leading alto saxophonists in jazz, epitomized by his finishing second only to Charlie Parker as Best Alto Saxophonist in the Down Beat magazine Readers Poll of 1952. Along with Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan and Shelly Manne, and perhaps due more to geography than playing style, Pepper is often associated with the musical movement known as West Coast jazzOver the next few months I will be selling some great Jazz records with the majority of them in exceptional condition. Most look and play perfectly with glossy unmarked surfaces and crisp clear audio! See the condition of this record below.
Side One: Las Cuevas De Mario; But Beautiful.
Side Two: Caravan; Labyrinth.
The album is on Contemporary/Carrere Records, 68.607. Matrix side one: 68607 A1 (written). Matrix side two: 68607 B (written).
Released in the 1980s. French pressing. Stereo.
See photos for more info.
Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (has a few light superficial marks that do not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Vinyl side 2: excellent (has a few light superficial marks that do not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Cover (matt): near mint (no obvious faults, still in the original shrink wrap only split at the opening edge).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.
Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler. Payment strictly by PayPal only. Postal discounts available for multiple purchases - Please email for details. 526 (GS 6.6.6 (526))
