ONE DAY NO RESERVE AUCTION! -- A Family emergency has created a financial pickle. Please do not bid if payment cannot be made immediately following Auction's close. Thank You for your consideration. -- INSURANCE PAID COMPLIMENTS OF SELLER -- NEW JAZZ NJLP 8219 MONO -- TAYLOR'S TENORS -- Art Taylor -- Featuring a rare appearance by pianist Walter Davis. With Frank Foster and Charlie Rouse on Tenor Sax -- Rated a Near Perfect 4 Stars in the AMG -- This has always seemed to be Taylor's most obscure session to find in Minty Fresh condition, far more scarce than his singular session as leader for BLUE NOTE -- Don't pass it by!
_____ If your Jazz collection only has room for, "the best of the best" once again, before you is an essential Post-Bop title. ...Hear me now and believe me later, the Jazz herein is Art Taylor-ed for this session. Recorded in June of 1959 with two of the most vibrant, yet underrated Post-Bop Tenormen of this era, TAYLOR'S TENORS is a Swingin' Affair indeed.
_____ Legendary drummer Art Taylor played on a multitude of classic Jazz sessions, but only managed to release a few dates as a leader before he passed away in 1995. This is his second. Taylor's Tenors, from mid-1959. Featuring two straight-ahead tenor saxophonists, Charlie Rouse and Frank Foster, engaging in an insightful yet swinging hard bop conversation. Rouse would shortly become Thelonious Monk's tenor of choice for the next decade. While Foster continued his tenure with Count Basie's band for another five years. These six hard bop pieces include two by Monk, Jackie McLean's "Fidel," and originals each from Charlie Rouse, pianist Walter Davis, and Art Taylor.
