ARTIE SHAW & HIS BAND 1938 - 1939 RARE NBC LIVE RADIO BRODCASTS with Buddy Rich, Tony Pastor and many more! Two AFRTS 16" Radio Transcription Discs
These incredibly rare 1938 and 1939 NBC Radio broadcasts of Artie Shaw and his band were recorded at The Blue Room in the Hotel Lincoln and the Cafe Rouge in the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City. Some of the amazing and mind blowing things you will hear are the first ever recorded performance of the great Jazz Drummer Buddy Rich. Even more amazing is the first and only known complete recording of the long version of the iconic Jazz Standard "In The Mood" that was recorded a full 6 to 9 months before Glenn Miller recorded it! That's right Artie Shaw was offered and performed the song "In The Mood" before Glenn Miller recorded it and made it famous! Who knew? The Hollywood Treasure Chest knew and has the actual radio transcription discs to prove it! This is some of the greatest Jazz music ever recorded and fortunately it is preserved forever on these two very rare 16" radio transcription discs that are each well over 50 years old. If you love Jazz music here is your chance to own some of the rarest and greatest Jazz music ever recorded! This show is part of a AFRTS radio series know as "America's Popular Music".
These two 16" Radio Transcriptions are in Excellent condition with only minor visible scuffs or scratches. The discs sound great and play with no skips or jumps. They are still very glossy and are not warped or chipped. Each Radio Transcription disc has two 30 minute radio shows, so you get 2 hours of great entertainment from the Golden Age of Radio. The 4 pictures supplied are of the 2 discs being offered.
